Age-specific gene response to burn in different tissues

Question


In this study, we are interested in indentifying both the most purturbed tissue with age-specific gene response to burn and the most significantly purturbed tissues for each gene. Expression data from different tissues are treated as time course data. Although tissues are from the same patient, they are considered as different samples and thus classified into cross-sectioinal analysis.

Data


The data set conatains 124 arrays from 31 patients, one array for each tissue type (blood, skin, muscle and fat) per patient. The head count of each category is shown in the table. We selected 11027 probe sets with CV>0.5 and median signal>50 for the analysis.

1. Gene Result (Tissue specific gene is defined by maximum weighted component of the project vector)
  • Interaction effect: genes respond to burn differently in two age groups.
  • Gene List ( blood-specific, muscle-specific, fat-specific, skin-specific)

  • Addtive effect: genes respond to burn similarly in two age groups, but their's a difference in signal level.
